NGO Slava Ukraini to close down
NGO Slava Ukraini that has provided life sustaining and life saving aid to the Ukrainian Army, has decided to close down as of the end of 2024, because the financial resources have become scarce. Between October and December, Slava Ukraini will complete the active projects.
“The decision to close down the organization was made because people have donated much less for our cause. We would like to thank everyone who has stood by us at the difficult times. With your support, we’ve been abe to help thousands of Ukrainian people and save soldiers’ lives,” Anu Viltrop, CEO of NGO Slava Ukraini said.
Since the beginning of 2023, NGO Slava Ukraini has collected about EUR 1.1 million of donations. Using those resources, we have:
- Delivered to Ukraine 33 guerilla ambulances, 4 ATV-s with carriers, and offered additional repairs to 10 guerilla ambulances. One more guerilla ambulance is on its way to Ukraine.
- Delivered to Ukraine a refrigerated vehicle for transporting the dead bodies of fallen fighters.
- Delivered to Ukraine equipment for blood transmission trainings (including blood warmers, Eldon cards, special containers and simulators) for PULSE to carry out blood transmission trainings, with the total cost of EUR 24 000. Those trainings are essential to enable blood transmissions in front-line stabilization points.
- Offered Tactical Combat Casualty Care training with PULSE for 8619 Ukrainian soldiers, so they can provide life-saving first aid on the battlefields. It is estimated that every trained solder can save up to 10 lives.
- Delivered to Ukraine 24 000 cans of Milspray camouflage spray paint in cooperation with the Estonian Defence Forces.
- Delivered to Ukrainian units medical equipment (tourniquets, thermal blankets, drag mats, Israeli bandages etc) with the total cost of EUR 11 400.
- Bought equipment for sniper units (vision equipment, range finders and drones) in cooperation with Estonian Defence League with the total cost of EUR 98 898.
- Delivered to Ukraine different items donated by generous people, including cars, first aid equipment, woolen socks etc.
Criminal procedures are underway in Estonia and Ukraine that will hopefully shed light on how the organization operated previously.
The restarted organization has introduces several best practices that we recommend to implement in all organizations that collect donations. We have issued monthly reports for donators and media, published a detailed expense report that ve have updated regularly, and volunteered to have our annual financial statement audited to ensure clarity.
“I would like to thank the supervisory board, my colleagues, supporters, donators and volunteers for the wonderful contribution to helping Ukraine. Your help has been essential, and has supported the Ukrainian army,” Viltrop added.
Helping Ukrainian army will go on, supported by a number of other NGO-s in Estonia and elsewhere.
