NGO Slava Ukraini – overview of Activities in October
From July onwards we have mostly focused on our organizational processes. We have put together a new team and practiced working with the new processes. We are also working on two projects.
Going forward we very much need help from donors; our goal is to raise EUR 289 000 to further send 20 guerilla ambulances and 10 ATVs.
Building guerilla ambulances
The front line ambulance project was restarted by NGO Slava Ukraini in August with the aim of sending 18 guerilla ambulances to Ukraine by November 2023. The estimated cost per vehicle is EUR 12 200. This includes the cars, rebuilding them into guerilla ambulances, maintenance repairs, supplying four new tyres, two spare tyres and the transport of the vehicle into Ukraine. As we have been careful with our funds we can send an additional car, totaling 19.
After all the costs have been accounted, we will give an individual price overview for every car. You can find the first expense report here (in Estonian) – the total unit cost of each car was below our estimations, EUR 11 385.73.
As of end of October, 15 guerilla ambulances have begun their journey towards Ukraine. Four have been handed over to the units. We have been waiting on the basket stretchers and due to that there have been delays with handing over the cars. In the coming weeks, we are expecting a lot of news regarding the car deliveries, which will also be published on our social media. We have bought 19 cars in total, costing us EUR 103 150 which averages to EUR 5430 per car. Another four cars are going through maintenance in Estonia and the mechanic is doing the rebuilding step by step. That includes removing the interior, attaching RGB light strips and covering the floor with PVC. The rest (installing the folding seats, paint jobs, maintenance) will be done with the help of trustworthy partners in Ukraine. Six off-road tyres will be included with every car.
We have put together a manual for rebuilding the cars to make communication easier in both Estonia and Ukraine and through that, further guarantee the reliability of the vehicles in harsh conditions.
We have commited EUR 800 alongside each car we deliver for additional repairs, such as fixing shock absorbers or sending additional wheels.
Tactical Combat Casualty Care training
As per the cooperation agreement, Slava Ukraini supports PULSE with EUR 132 030 and aims to train 8100 soldiers. Soldiers who have participated in the training know how to use life-saving first-aid techniques on the battlefield. As a high number of soldiers require training, its pace has increased. It’s been estimated that each trained soldier may save the lives of up to 10 comrades. Because of that it is likely that the 8100 soldiers will be trained by the end of the year. The original schedule indicates that the training will continue until January 2024.
Other activities
In October, we partnered with Tartu University Hospital and NGO Abi Ukrainale, and we helped to transport 64 hospital beds to Kharkiv. Read more on our social media page.
