NGO Slava Ukraini – overview of Activities in September
Building guerilla ambulances
The front line ambulance project was restarted by NGO Slava Ukraini in August with the aim of sending 18 guerilla ambulances to Ukraine by November 2023. The estimated cost per vehicle is EUR 12 200. This includes the cars, rebuilding them into guerilla ambulances, maintenance repairs, supplying four new tyres, two spare tyres and transport into Ukraine.
For maintaining cars, rebuilding cars and buying car parts we are working with companies in both Estonia and Ukraine. We have also reached a deal with TruckParts Eesti OÜ who wlll supply us with the folding seats that have been scavanged from cars that were marked for scrapping. Those are added for the medics and the lightly wounded to sit on. Each car will have two or three of those seats installed, as per the requests of the receiving units.
As of end of September, 11 guerilla ambulances have begun their journey towards Ukraine. Three have been handed over to the units. One had a broken fuel line and was left in Polant for repairs – that car will reach Ukraine within this week. Two cars are waiting to be painted in Ukraine. In addition, one of those two needs an adjustment to the gearbox and the fuel tank requires reinforcement. We have bought 17 cars in total, costing us EUR 93 900 which averages to EUR 5524 per car.
Another three cars are going through maintenance in Estonia and the mechanic is slowly doing the rebuilding: removing the interior, attaching RGB light strips and is covering the floor with PVC. The rest (installing the folding seats, paint jobs, maintenance) will be done with the help of trustworthy partners in Ukraine. We are experimenting with doing the rebuilding both in Estonia and Ukraine to compare the price and quality of the work. We need more time to finalize the total cost of the cars as we are still waiting to receive some invoices.
We have put together a manual for rebuilding the cars to make communication easier and improve the quality of the work.
We have commited EUR 800 alongside each car we deliver for additional repairs, such as fixing shock absorbers or sending additional wheels.
Tactical Combat Casualty Care training
In September, 1711 soldiers participated in the PULSE Tactical Combat Casualty Care training. Since May this year, 6028 soldiers have completed the PULSE training and know how provide life-saving first aid on the battlefield. In September, trainings were held in the following oblasts: Odessa, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Zitomyr, Rivne, Cherkasy, Sumy.
As per the cooperation agreement, Slava Ukraini supports PULSE with EUR 132 030 and aims to train 8100 soldiers. Soldiers who have participated in the training know how to use life-saving first-aid techniques on the battlefield. It has been estimated that each trained soldier may save the lives of up to 10 comrades. The trainings will continue until January 2024 in the framework of the agreement.

Donations
As of May 9th, the date when changes took place in the board of the organization, the amount of donations on the NGO’s accounts was about EUR 664 000.
Between May 9th and the end of August about EUR 54 800 was donated to the NGO.
There are still criminal procedures underway in both Estonia and Ukraine to shed light on how the donations were used before March 2023.
NGO Slava Ukraini is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2022 to act in public interest with the goal of supporting the armed forces and the civilian population of Ukraine with life-protecting and life-saving aid. To achieve the goals, NGO Slava Ukraini provides assistance for the armed forces of Ukraine in arranging medical activities in the frontline as well as skills, knowledge and tools to deal with war damage.
